18 March 2010 BUILDING and BUILDING
I seem to have too much on the go right now. Besides dealing with local idiots, I've also been VERY busy building a new Track, (See My new track section), and supporting Erlo, who's now VERY busy making classic and LMS bodies for people round the Country, (Including me), my own developed Pescarolo LMP1 is finally complete, and as you can see, I'm busy trying to complete the livery and decals. The car itself looks excellent, and glad with how it came out. I'm not making laminated versions of this yet, I haven't got the mold completed, but expected prices will be around R 1500-00 a body. Also pictured above, the 2009 Patron Tequila Highcroft Racing Acura ARX01 which I finished earlier this week. Only 15 more bodies to go, then I'll have a Miniature le Mans\ALMS Grid.. Pictured below, is yet another couple of projects on the go. This is quite cool actually. I have about 8 Carrera 1/24 Corvette Chassis which are all brand new, but I built and painted the bodies for the IMCA trips last year. So, to partner my Ferrari's and Porsche in the Digital setup, I laminated an Aston Martin, and a Lambo Murch, and there's a Maserati MC12 currently in the mold, which as you can see, the Aston and Lambo fit the Carrera Corvette chassis almost perfectly. The Mazza is MUCH bigger, but as this is for playing with, I'm forsaking the scale, and cutting the body shorter, to fit the Corvette Chassis, but once completed, I'll have 3 Ferrari 575 Maranello's, 2 Corvette C6R's, 1 Aston Martin DBR9, 1 Lamborghini Murcialago LP650 and a Maserati MC 12, oh, and an older Porsche GT1/98 in 1/24 scale and all digital..
Here a Pic of the Laminated cars from my club days. These are all Plafit chassis at the back, and the front my first Toyota BRM, and the two Carrera FIA GT cars..
14 March 2010 BRM Slotcars My newly acquired collection is growing... Although the three boxed cars are collectors editions, the Minolta Toyota is a new addition to my 1/24 collection for 24 Scale Digital racing. Another 6 Porsches are on their way, and with the FIA GT cars, will be an awesome selection to choose from.
The Jager-Bombs.. # 3 and # 15 of 1000.. sweet.
11 February 2010 ROUND 1 - OEPS SERIES - DISON
Round 1 of the newly formed OEPS (Open European Prototype Series) ran this weekend at Dison. Three heats, a day, night and day section gave 27 teams the chance to compete in varying conditions, and to find out the leading team for the 2010 series.. More Pics..
Awesome cars and an awesome race, with Nick De Wachter's Team NDW coming out victorious after round 1. 09 February 2010 HELLO NINCO , STUFF YOU CARRERA. I sent an email to Carrera International about their "Customer retention policies" recently.. PRO X is discontinued, for those of us who have invested Thousands of Rands, its all out the window, and to get D24, we have to re-purchase all the equipment again!!! Well I'm seriously pissed off with Carrera, and guess what, I didn't get a response from anyone, neither locally, from Toysrus.. (GOD I'M SHOCKED!!) or from Carrera International..(GOD I'M MORE SHOCKED!!) So I started the simple and VERY in-expensive path to migrating all my electronics to Ninco N-Digital. It's powerful, stable, can support up to 8 cars in 1/32 scale or 6 in 1/24 scale with Power Mods, and with the ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT CARRERA, their track system, I'm happy.. Taking a Hammer to all my PRO X bits this weekend, Pics will be posted.. So 2010 is here, and it's been an awesome start to the new year already. Bought a small house, so my time has been well spent on DIY projects for my new home, and a lot less on slots. As I no longer have any responsibilities to the "Cambridge Club", it's like this huge load has been lifted off my shoulders, and I've now realized in fact just how much crap I was actually having to deal with there.. I'm keeping in touch with the realistic and honest people, and those who want to keep in touch with me, the rest, good luck to them. Anyway, starting a new home track for myself now. Going to be Analogue and Digital for 1/24, and I guess some 1/32 cars, but for now, track design is done, and I start building the structure shortly. Going to be a flip up table in my Garage, and should be a nice, fast little track. 4.5 meters by 1.5 Meters, and lane length of around 55 feet.. nice.. More to follow soon on the track soon. NEW CARS
Erlo in Durban also been going great guns with the new LMP Molds. These are all Vac formed Le Mans prototypes which we're still making. In addition to these, we'll also have the older Audi R10 and Porsche RS bodies soon, so the selection is growing.. Can't wait to race these on my Digital track.. 23rd September 2009 DALLARA IS COMPLETED
Pictured Above, the Dallara LMP, which I've recently completed. Total weight, 24.7 grams. It might be a 5 year old LMP Sportscar, but it's still one of the nicest looking. Next on the shopping List, the Audi R10 Diesel, the Peugeot 908 Hdi FAP, which won Le Mans this year, and the Lola Aston Martin LMP which won the Le Mans Series this year. Coming shortly will be the Porsche Spyder RS, and the Pescarolo LMP's.. 31st July 2009 AUDI R15 IS FINISHED
Email Erlo to order one of these masterpieces.
31st July 2009 2009 TORONTO INTERNATIONAL EVENT I've been following the Toronto Races from North America this past week, and unfortunately, the International attendance was much lower due to various reasons, economics and so on, however there was still some awesome racing had, and new friends made in the world of Model Slot Racing. 29th July 2009 AUDI R10 FIRST TO BE COMPLETED
While Erlo battles on with the "animal" that is the R15, I got my hands on a Audi R10 from Carrera which needed a slight modification on the rear fenders to be OEPS ready for laminating. So, using both an R8 and R10 as test subjects, I managed to do the Wheel Fender widening project for 3 cars on one weekend.. The Audi R10 is the first to be bathed in Silicone, and is officially finished and ready for laminating. I'm still waiting for my Dallara which should be here in a week's time, and which will then become a "master" body for a number of trick conversions and builds, the first one being the MUCH wanted Pescarolo. Here are some Pics of what was involved in the R10 "fix".
21st July 2009 PROJECT "LET'S GET CURRENT". It's been a while since I posted, however, it's been a strange month to say the least. I had some discussions with the drivers overseas about these new LMS cars, and it seems there's a demand for them. So, It's been decided between Erlo in Durban and myself, we, together will be creating 1/24 Scale LMS 2009 Model Car Bodies. Irrespective if they are raced locally or not, we both feel it would be really cool to have Le Mans cars in 1/24 Scale, so the project has officially started. Here is the development of the new Audi R15 by Erlo. Looking very good.
What the finished products will look like.
What the European Cars look like, and what to expect in a few months..
02nd June 2009 HOME-GROWN DEVELOPMENT FOR 1/24 SLOT CAR RACING
30th May 2009
THE OPEN EUROPEAN PROTOTYPE SERIES - INTERNATIONAL MODEL CAR SERIES Recently, a bunch of Model Car Enthusiasts got together to discuss the future for 1/24 Model Car Racing on a Global Scale. Besides the financial crisis in many markets, there is still a widely dispersed but closely knit group of friends, and the general discussion is towards moving forward internationally to a global standard, class, and also, a big gathering of those enthusiasts from all over the globe, to have some beers, get-togethers, and to race the finals of the OEPS.
